Bespoke Reclaimed Patterns

Our in-house joinery and skilled staff allow us to make absolutely any bespoke, made to measure, patterned floor. We mainly make these from our reclaimed, narrow exotic, hardwood strip floors and wider stock like reclaimed Pitch Pine or reclaimed Parquet block - but in truth any pattern can be created. Our vast stocks of reclaimed timber - with lovely textured surfaces - allow almost anything in terms of timber, textures, colour or finish, to be matched.

As with all our floors, we work to hold a semblance of history and personality that comes from whatever happened to the timber before we reclaimed it.

We offer traditional patterns as well as some contemporary ones of our own. However, our speciality is creating new bespoke designs to fit individual spaces - as designed and specified by yourself.

PROCESS:

These floors are available in a solid, engineered or overlay format in our workshops (see Specifications below) and can be hand-sanded to any of our soft, textured finishes, then finished to any agreed colour.

We have much experience of making a floor fit exactly into one room. Transitions between adjoining areas equally needs care and thought. As part of the pricing process, we do a take-off from drawings of each floor area and measure the exact width, length and dimension of each space. In this way we determine the ideal length and width of the battens, so the cuts and edge details at all borders, door thresholds and other transitions are balanced and finessed in an elegant way, for each and every job.

Once produced, we lay out each floor on a 1:1 basis in our layout areas. We find that this process has proved very effective in that clients can see the whole finished floor, including all awkward border details and transition thresholds. Any changes become obvious and can be dealt with in our workshop there and then - before the job comes to site.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Solid Boards

• All boards fully de-nailed, while protecting the original face and selected for quality.
• Kiln-dried on site to set moisture content - written guarantee given.
• All boards regularised exactly to one chosen width (the widest possible based on selection).
• All boards precision planed from the back face only, to bring to a set thickness. Preserves the Original face. Quickens and simplifies install.
• All boards are precision cross-cut on both ends.
• If required, hand DA sanded to one of our hand-made textures.
• Available unfinished, semi- or fully-finished.

Engineered Boards

• For use with concrete sub-floors or under-floor heating systems.
• Secondary kiln-dried to very low moisture content.
• Precision-planed on back face to bring to 6-10mm width to provide solid wear surface.
• Engineered onto top-quality birch plywood: BB/BB or BB/CP grade, 11 strand x 15mm.
• Vacuum pressed with minimum of 30 mins cooling time.
• Every board hand-checked to ensure no delamination.
• Surface filled and repaired, and long top edges hand-rolled to 1.5mm radius.
• Grooved on long edges only; loose tongues supplied in 1-2m lengths.
• If required, hand DA sanded to one of our hand-made textures.
• Available unfinished, French-Polished, semi- or fully-finished to specification.

Overlay/Traditional Parquet

For installation on top of an existing sheet material substrate

• Machined to agreed thickness (6-10mm).
• All batons precision cross-cut.
• Hand DA sanded to one of our hand-made textures with 150 grit finish.
• All long edged only hand-rolled to a 1mm radius.
• Old nail holes, cracks, splits etc. filled or not as agreed with client.
• Available unfinished, French-Polished, semi- or fully-finished to specification.
